Tybee Island Beach
|
SCAD facilities are located
throughout Savannah's historic downtown and Victorian districts,
in close proximity to a number of landmarks.
Visitors to the city may enjoy strolling through the squares,
shopping on River Street, visiting museums, dining at the
many unique area restaurants and viewing noteworthy homes
such as Mercer House and the Green-Meldrim House, which served
as General William Tecumseh Sherman's headquarters during
his Civil War occupation of Savannah.
In addition, Savannah visitors may enjoy the beach at Tybee
Island, tour Civil War Forts Jackson and Pulaski, drive through
the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge or play golf at one
of the many courses located on nearby Hilton Head Island.
Fishing is a popular pastime in both the Atlantic and in many
area rivers, and an abundant system of marshes and canals
makes for good boating. For those interested in a contemporary
urban flair, Savannah's southside offers two shopping malls
and several movie theaters.
